Why is Go Gondolier a Go To Choice For Your Upcoming Project?
How Much Does a Loft Conversion Cost?
Several factors are required to be aware of before giving any quote, but as a rule of thumb the costs can be anywhere from £150 to £220 per square feet.
While Velux is the most economical solution, hip to gable adds up to 50 % on the top.
An important factor when quoting is the organisation of building process and the cost of labour force or materials.
The price we originally quote does not change so you don’t have to face unforeseen claims at the end of the job.
Go-Gondolier LTD has the competitive edge to manage tradesmen and whole process in a way that cuts the costs while keeping quality to a high standard.
Moreover, many clients have used remortgage schemes to finance their project without spending family savings.
4 Common Loft Conversion Types
When thinking of a loft conversion, you can choose from different models.
The reason you need it, how it will look like, the height and floor space of the roof, budget and planning restrictions etc are important factors to take into account.
- Usually is very cost-effective and easier to implement
- Normally does not require special planning permission
- Maximises available space within your loft
- Composed from 2 slopes – one at 2 degrees vertical and another horizontal on the top
- Wide variety of styles and sizes
- Will allow for additional floor space and headroom
- Not always the most attractive from the outside
- Major changes to the roof
- Properties with hip roofs tend not to have enough internal space for a conversion to be practical so a hip to gable conversion is the best solution.
5 Questions That We Often Answer

Majority of lofts out there are capable of conversion but the most important thing is that there should be enough achievable headroom. On a good day, you need at least 2.3 m (7 feet 6 inches) to start with from the current ceiling joists to the top of the loft.
Which means that, as soon as the new loft floor (about 200 mm or 8 inches) and ceiling (about 100 mm or 4 inches) is in place in the loft conversion all you’ll have left is a ceiling height of about 2 m (6 feet 6 inches)
Take a close look at the door closest to you – the opening (if standard) is likely to be 1.981 mm in height which is just a little under 2 m. With this in mind we hope you’re convinced that if it is incapable of achieving at least 2 m then you probably shouldn’t bother to convert the loft!
The regulations that came into effect on the 1st of October 2008 provides that a loft conversion for your house will most likely be categorised under permitted development which means you don’t have to go through the stress and cost of planning permission. This is however subject to certain restrictions and conditions – endeavour to check out the planning portal website for more details on this.
According to a study carried out by Money Home Lending and published by The Guardian, loft conversions actually increase the value of your home: Subject to where you live, anything from £22,000 to £45,000.
If you decide to go with Go-Gondolier LTD we offer loft conversions from design down to completion – this comprises of planning, building regulations, structure, stairs, velux widows, dormer windows, insulation, plastering, heating, plumbing, bathroom fitting, electrical work (Part P) and woodwork etc.
We can however design a package that fits your requirements, if you would rather (or manage) do some of the ‘2nd fix’ elements yourself then we can tailor a package to meet your requirements.
Though lofts differ, but on the average an estimated guide for a velux conversion is 4-5 weeks and approximately 6 weeks for a dormer conversion.
We can give a more accurate estimate once we’ve surveyed the loft.

Loft Conversion required for 30's semi⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We hired Go Gondolier to do our hip to Gable loft conversion. We are very happy with the finished job and couldn’t recommend go gondolier highly enough. The job was done to a very high standard, Simon promised to finish within six weeks and he finished early which also included decoration as a favour that wasn’t in the original quote. Simon is a very nice guy and very honest and his team are very pleasant, they work very hard and they were work very long hours. They are also very tidy and cleaned up every day. Simon is the best builder I have ever worked with and will be sure to hire him to do our kitchen extension. Payment terms are also very fair, weekly payments as opposed to other competitors that charged a large amount upfront. Simon has a very keen eye for detail and Advised us on improvements on the original drawings done by the architect which made a big difference to the finish. His communication skills are also excellent, he always picks up his phone and always responds to emails the same day. We are absolutely delighted with our loft conversion and can’t recommend go gondolier highly enough.

We contacted Simon about taking over our loft conversion after being let down by a builder who in 2 months had only just begun to lay the joists. We are more than pleased with the rapid transformation of our old loft space into two new rooms and beautifully tiled bathroom in just six weeks by Simon and his hardworking team. They accomplished this by putting in long days, often 8-6, working solidly in all weathers and with minimal disruption to our household. The builders were polite and considerate and tidied up well at the end of each day. Simon was happy to acomodate several additions and alterations as the build progressed. We've been impressed with the standard of work and all done within a very reasonable budget. We'd readily recommend Go Gondolier to anyone planning on doing a loft conversion, or doing other building works.
